Education Enrichment

Life at Laureate is more than just lessons. We are proud to offer an exciting variety of extra-curricular activities to help students uncover their passions and expand their horizons. Our wide variety of activities means there is something for every interest — from sports and music to drama, debate, and STEM.

We believe that a strong Education Enrichment programme is an essential part of raising the aspirations of our pupils and giving them both the knowledge and the skills to achieve excellence, regardless of their background or individual circumstances. We want our young people to develop curiosity about, and passion for, what they are learning in school. To complement our curriculum, therefore, our Educational Enrichment programme helps to bring our students’ learning to life through the provision of subject-specific field and residential trips, competitions and workshops.

SPORTS CLUBS

At Laureate Academy we strive to offer a diverse enrichment programme that offers pupils a chance to learn and enjoy sport beyond their PE lessons. Our sports clubs provide an exciting way for students to stay active, build teamwork, and develop athletic skills:

We take part in a huge number of fixtures against local Hertfordshire schools and within Future Academy tournaments. 

MUSIC CLUBS

Students who love music can get involved in a range of opportunities, whether they are beginners or experienced performers:

  • Choir – Perform a range of music styles while developing vocal techniques.
  • Band Rehearsals – Practice and perform with your band.
  • String Ensemble – A dedicated group for string musicians.
  • Woodwind Ensemble – Explore music in a collaborative setting with other woodwind players.
  • Music Theory Sessions – Deepen understanding of the language of music.
  • Orchestra – Join a full orchestral experience for performance opportunities.
  • Music Lessons – Individual and small group lessons available across a variety of instruments.

DRAMA CLUBS

Drama at Laureate helps students develop creativity, confidence, and teamwork through performance and production:

  • Year 7/8 Drama Club – A fun and welcoming space for younger students to explore acting.
  • Year 9+ Production Crew – Get involved behind the scenes with lighting, sound, set design, and stage management.

OTHER CLUBS

We also offer a variety of clubs for students to expand their academic interests, express themselves, and build community:

  • DebateMate – Learn the art of debate, build public speaking skills, and compete in national competitions.
  • Colouring Club – Relax, unwind, and express your creativity through vibrant designs and mindful colouring activities. 
  • Creative Writing Club – Explore storytelling, poetry, and prose while developing your writing skills and imagination.
  • Crochet Club – Learn the art of crochet, create beautiful handmade pieces, and share tips in a friendly, creative space.
  • STEM Club – Explore exciting projects in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths.
  • Pride Club – A supportive space celebrating diversity, inclusion, and community for LGBTQ+ students and allies.
  • Chess Club – Sharpen your strategic thinking, master the game of chess, and challenge friends in a fun, competitive environment.
  • Swiftie Society – Celebrate all things Taylor Swift, connect with fellow fans, discuss albums and eras, and share your love for music, lyrics, and creativity in a fun, welcoming community.
  • Board Game Club – Discover classic and modern board games, develop teamwork and strategy, and enjoy friendly competition in a relaxed, social setting with friends.
  • Healthcare & Medicine Society – Learn about careers in healthcare and medicine, explore real‑world medical topics, build key skills, and connect with others passionate about making a difference in health and wellbeing.
  • Wellbeing Club – A calm and supportive space to focus on mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing, practise self‑care, try relaxing activities, and connect with others in a positive, judgment‑free environment.
  • TEDx Talks - Each week a new theme and led by a different member of staff. Learn about something new and unique!
  • DnD Club - Dive into epic adventures, create unique characters, and tell collaborative stories through role‑play, strategy, and imagination in a welcoming fantasy world
