Behaviour Charter
Creating a positive, safe, and respectful learning environment
Secondary schools, special schools, and the Education Support Centre in Dacorum have come together to create the Dacorum Schools Behaviour Charter, a shared commitment to high standards, clear expectations, and strong partnerships between schools, pupils, and families.
The Charter outlines the key behaviours we expect and how everyone plays a part in helping pupils to:
- Be safe
- Be respectful
- Be ready to learn
Why it matters
Children and young people thrive when everyone, teachers, parents, and pupils share a clear understanding of what’s expected. A consistent approach across schools helps create a stable environment where pupils feel supported, confident, and ready to learn.
It also makes moving between schools or settings smoother. Wherever they are in Dacorum, pupils will experience the same high expectations, clear boundaries, and reliable support.
A united commitment
Each school applies the Charter in a way that suits its community, but all are united by shared values of:
- Kindness
- Fairness
- Consistency
This collective approach strengthens relationships, promotes wellbeing, and helps every pupil succeed.
Working together for every young person
By adopting the Dacorum Schools Behaviour Charter, we are building a stronger, more caring learning community, one where every young person has the best possible chance to thrive and grow.
