Message from the Head of Sixth Form
Thank you for taking the time to consider Laureate Academy for your Sixth Form studies.
The staff and students of Laureate Academy Sixth Form are rightly very proud to be a part of it. It has a strong legacy of success and achievement, as well as for personalised support and development.
We are committed to ensuring that all of our Sixth Form students achieve excellent academic results, so that every student has the freedom of choice in their adult life. We aim to develop independent, ambitious and successful individuals who set themselves high expectations. All of our students are supported in a uniquely tailored approach to offer them a successful route to university, other Higher Education or employment so that they can have the freedom to excel. The Sixth From provides an extensive range of enrichment and extracurricular opportunities to compliment academic studies; this programme is supported through fortnightly interactive sessions, coupled with a highly successful UCAS programme, 'Employability' sessions and fulfilling work experience programme at the end of Year 12.
The Laureate Academy Sixth Form Centre is situated on a separate site from the main school, which creates a tight knit community among our students who feel a greater sense of independence. We appreciate you may be deciding in potentially moving schools to join us. We are proud of the fact that those students who have joined us at Sixth Form comment on the warm and welcoming environment amongst all students here.
Knowledge, Aspiration and Respect is at the core of all we do at Laureate Academy. We deliver an inspiring and challenging curriculum, providing students with an opportunity to find their strengths and passions. This starts with high quality lessons taught by subject experts, and a desire to enable students to achieve beyond what they may have previously thought possible.
The Sixth Form Team take pride in the personalised care and guidance we provide, enabling all students to be happy and successful. Throughout their time with us, we closely monitor student progress and personalise the support that each student needs through target setting, learning conversations and mentoring.
Life in Sixth Form is different to that of the rest of the school. It is a time when students mature from adolescence to adulthood. Students are expected to take increasing responsibility for their learning and management of their time during their time with us at Sixth Form. Our students are role models for the rest of the school, and as such they take a very active part in contributing to the local community through their extensive charity work. Last year alone, our charity committee organised events for Macmillan, Young Minds and Shoebox Appeal. Sixth Form students also extend their energies and creativity, organising social events such as the Prom and Consortium parties, events that are a highlight for many students.
Thank you again for considering us; do get in touch if you have any questions and we hope to welcome you to Laureate Academy Sixth Form soon.
Mr N Palmer
