Psychology is the study of mind and behaviour. At Laureate, we offer a course in Psychology to our Sixth-Form students, following the AQA A-Level specification. This course covers a range of approaches to Psychology and explores the methods used by psychologists.
There are 11 topics, covering a variety of aspects of Psychology. These are explored from different perspectives, including the psychodynamic (Freudian) approach, the biological approach, the cognitive approach and the behavioural approach. Students will learn about the main ideas in psychology and how psychologists work. They will explore at a range of key topics including the psychology of relationships, theories of aggression, schizophrenia and media. Fundamental issues and debates (such as freewill vs determinism), and how they impact psychology and research methods, underpin the whole course.
